Hear Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo Perform New ‘Wicked: For Good’ Songs

"The Girl in the Bubble" and "No Place Like Home" were written specifically for the musical's second half

The witches are back. Ahead of the release of Wicked: For Good, Universal Pictures has teased the film’s brand new songs, “The Girl in the Bubble” and “No Place Like Home.” The full versions will be released as part of the film’s soundtrack on Nov. 21.

Ariana Grande performs “The Girl in the Bubble,” a reflective ballad that sees her character Glinda questioning what’s below the surface. “There goes that beautiful girl with a beautiful life,” she belts. “Such a beautiful life built on lies.”

Cynthia Erivo performs “No Place Like Home,” an anthemic ballad where her character Elphaba wonders why she still feels such a kinship with Oz. “Why do I love this place that’s never loved me?” she sings. “But there’s no place like home.”

“The Girl in the Bubble” and “No Place Like Home” were written by composer Stephen Schwartz specifically for Wicked: For Good and are not part of the stage show. Because they are original songs for the movie it is likely both will be eligible to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Original Song (unlike the other songs from the films).

Director Jon M. Chu recently assured moviegoers with a particular attachment to the original soundtrack that the filmmaking team wouldn’t have added them if they weren’t essential. “Even after we recorded them, even after we put them in the movie,” he told EW, “we kicked the tires on them to make sure that we had to put them in this movie.”

He added, “Glinda is the one that has to ultimately pop her own bubble. She has to leave her privilege to actually see other people’s struggles and fight for justice and equality. Both of these songs are about how to do that, and it’s questions that I’ve always wanted to hear from them in the stage show, but never got to. We get to take our time and explore those questions.”

Wicked: For Good hits theaters on Nov. 21, 2025. Along with Grande and Erivo, the film stars Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard. The rest of the cast includes Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Bronwyn James.
